Here are some current happenings at Kindred facilities across the country.
Andover, MA --- On Sept. 24 and 25, Regional Nutrition Services Director for
the East Region Denise Robertson graduated the fifth Cooking with Kindred class.
The 14 attendees included nutrition services staff, RDs and managers of five
Kindred nursing centers.
Cooking with Kindred is a culinary education course that is an investment in
our staff as much as an investment in the dining experience for our residents
and patients. The intent of the course is to enhance taste and presentation
of our dining experience, moving it to a more customer-focused experience in
keeping with cutting-edge cultural change and advancing excellence in our industry.
The Program and the Raleigh Sysco staff created an ideal hands-on learning
experience where we were reminded of the many resources Kindred provides for
us to get the job done. Our cooks returned talking about what they were going
to do to make better meals.
One graduate said: "I have just returned from two days of the Program.
As an RD with many many years experience in this field, I have participated
in many educational events. Cooking with Kindred was one of the best I have
ever attended. It's impossible to accurately describe the excitement of the
participants."
Another graduate said: "My cook came back very energized and is even more
aware of customer service, portion control and garnishes. Being able to leave
the facility to attend a seminar made her aware that she is an important part
of this organization. She is now taking the time to prepare pureed bread with
a flair, pays more attention to portion control and has an even more upbeat
attitude! Thanks again."
