Subject: The MVP Award Goes To...

With great enthusiasm, we have chosen our RN, Victor Liwag, as MVP (Mission-Vision-Player) for his continued dedication and commitment to our hospital.

In the early-90's, Victor went back to school after a career as a stockbroker, to pursue nursing. Even though Victor was a new nurse, he was never overwhelmed or discouraged by the tremendous workload here in Ontario. He has such a positive outlook on life and work that it shows through in his willingness to help wherever he is needed. In the short time he has been with us, he has begun voluntarily training for surgery, wound care, and the recovery room. On days when staffing is short, we can always depend on Victor to work day or night.

Also, his clear understanding of what it's like to be a new nurse is demonstrated in the caring ways he mentors new staff members. He takes the time to impart to them the knowledge they need to be effective and productive nurses. Victor works great with a variety of disciplines, and families and physicians have great confidence in his ability to provide excellent care. He is a great team player and always has a smile for everyone he meets. We are certainly fortunate to have Victor working with us.

Leah Allison, CNA

Leah was hired in late 2000 as a CNA and is also a Restorative Nursing Assistant. Always cheerful and willing to help anyone, Leah is always looking for ways she can be involved in improving the quality of life for our residents. For example, she's been taking one of the residents, who has very little family involvement, swimming at the YMCA, and out shopping on her birthday and out to dinner. She also spearheaded the facility's participation in a cancer walk at the local high school for the past two years.
