KINDRED HEALTHCARE APPOINTS JEFFREY B. REEVES AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES FOR THE COMPANY’S HOSPITAL DIVISIONLouisville, KY (July 14, 2009) – Kindred Healthcare, Inc. (the “Company”) (NYSE:KND) today announced the appointment of Jeffrey B. Reeves as Senior Vice President, Human Resources for the Company’s Hospital Division. The Company’s Hospital Division is the largest provider of long-term acute care hospital services in the United States. For the 12 months ended March 31, 2009, the Hospital Division had $1.9 billion in revenues. Mr. Reeves has more than 20 years experience with four Fortune 100 organizations - Pepsi Cola Company, Inc. (NYSE:PEP); US West Communications; Scott Paper Company; and Sam’s Club, a Division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) - in human resources leadership positions. Most recently, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer with Allianz of America Corporation. Before joining Allianz, Mr. Reeves was Chief Organizational Effectiveness and Human Resources Officer with the Ohio State University and Medical Center. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan. Mr. Reeves was a three-year starter with the University of Michigan football team and also played for the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League. “We are pleased Jeff is joining the Company and believe he will
